About Me

Hello....Nice to meet you. My name is Azharuddin Abdul Ghani. Family members call me “UDEAN”. You can call me “UDEAN” or just "DEAN". My job involves civil and marine engineering such as dredging, reclamation, construction of breakwater, flood mitigation, construction of drainage system, river widening and new river channel, riverbank revetment and as well as construction of marine jetty.

My hometown is in Terengganu, about 400km north east of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Terengganu has miles and miles of white sandy beaches and crystal clear water stretched throughout its 344km coastline. Being born in a little town named Kemaman and brought up in Dungun until I graduated from the local university (UiTM), my love for the sea has always great. The beach was only a few hundred meters from my home. That was where I learned to swim (oops!... I was banned from swimming at the beach because the waves were strong and dangerous).
I remember as a child, I used to cycle around the fishing villages with friends. We would take boat rides to meet other friends from a neigbouring village, Seberang Pintasan. We would go fishing and swimming together at the river. Some times in the month of July, we would wait by the beaches in
Rantau Abang
from midnight to dawn to watch giant leatherback turtles laying eggs. The leatherback turtles have probably been inhabiting the beach since ancient times. Well, that was more than 20 years ago.
My love for the sea has brought me to scuba diving. I was really excited during my PADI Open Water certification at Pulau Tinggi, Johor on August 21st, 1993. Since then, the serenity and sublime silence of the underwater world plus the breathtaking coral gardens and other inhabitants has never ceased to amaze me. I have dived at almost all of the tropical beautiful islands in Malaysia, among them
Pulau Perhentian,
Pulau Redang,
Pulau Tenggol,
Pulau Tioman
and as far as
Pulau Sipadan
in
Sabah.
I also enjoy diving in Indonesia. The
Bunaken Marine Park
and Lembeh in North Sulawesi, for example are great sites for wall diving and not forgetting their rare marine species.
Whether you're old or young, this is an extremely healthy outdoor pursuit, and one that’s suitable for a wide age group. If you have any questions regarding scuba diving especially scuba diving sites / location in
Malaysia
and
Indonesia,

I am honoured to answer them the very best I can, with the diving experience I get through out the years.
